The chime heard in your ear indicates that you are Engaged, a status which can be used while you are providing assistance or completing a task requiring focus. Users who are Engaged will not hear Broadcasts, Chats, Messages, and Announcements.
You can switch back to Available from Engaged by quickly tapping the Command Button.
